MBA Tech Transfer Challenge

This is an MBA Adventure!

MBA tech transfer challenge!

An integral part of the Mays MBA Program, the annual MBA Tech Transfer Challenge asks teams of MBA students to assess the commercial viability of an A&M invention.

With no prior knowledge of the technology, each student team has one week to learn about, identify applications, assess the market for and determine the commercial appeal of the invention.

The week culminates with presentations before judges from the business, investment and academic communities. Students are challenged to quickly learn a new topic, organize their work, work as a team, and apply their classroom lessons in a real world setting.

The technologies analyzed by the MBAs are all real-world inventions from A&M’s labs. Inventions as diverse as a treatment for age-related macular degeneration, air quality sampling, enzymes extracted from fruit flies, and new road-side safety technology have all been analyzed in recent competitions.

In addition to enhancing the MBA educational program, the Challenge is a great way to showcase our students and diverse research portfolio to the business and investment community. Past competitions have results in job offers for students as well as technology licensing discussions.

The 2010 Challenge was a huge success.  Below are the winning teams, their technologies and inventors.
